ParkwayHills Core Values
Knowing God (Receiving Christ as Savior) - We value all persons becoming believers in Christ - meaning they have heard and accepted God’s free gift of ‘grace’ offered through Christ by ‘faith’ and are now enjoying a personal (knowing) relationship with Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2: 8-9
Belonging to God’s family – (Christian Fellowship) – The words ‘Christian fellowship’, taken from the Greek word, Koinonia, bear that we value individual believers becoming local church members and growing in relationship with Christ through the gathered community by experiencing corporate worship and small group accountability for spiritual growth, encouragement, fellowship and ministry.
Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Acts 2:42-47
Worshipping God & Praying to God (Worship and Prayer) – We value that all persons respond to God in a lifestyle of worship, praise and prayer. This translates into an everyday life of praise and honor to God for whom He is, what He has done and what He is yet to do.
…I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Romans 12:1-2
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6
Pray continually. 1 Thessalonians 5:17
Learning about God (Bible Study) – We value all persons learning about God and growing in Christ-following faith and ministry by reading, studying and applying God’s Word to life.
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Living for God at home (Family) – We value that families and family-life be strengthened, so that each family - whether large or small - be challenged, encouraged, trained and supported to live Christ-centered lives at home, at work and at play.
…Mindful of the sincere faith within you, which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am sure that it is in you as well 2 Timothy 1:5
Giving to God (Giving) – We value that all believers give to God and the work of his church, and that our members support this local church financially, by giving - without compulsion, through regular tithes and free will, grace offerings.
But just as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us, see that you also excel in this grace of giving. 1 Corinthians 8:7
Sharing God’s message (Evangelism/Missions) – We value that all believers and members intentionally share the Good News (gospel) of Jesus Christ - through spontaneous personal testimony and by relationship with non-believers, and that our members participate in the cooperative mission effort and evangelism ministries of this church.
…”Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded…” Matthew 28:19-20a
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8
